Bas Holverda takes over from Dorothee Laan

As of February, 2024, dr. Bas Holverda has taken on the role of Research and Innovation Manager at the LONGFONDS | Accelerate program, succeeding Dorothee Laan. 

Before joining Longfonds, Holverda pursued a postdoctoral position at the University of California San Diego. In 2011, he transitioned from academia to Longfonds. Guiding and promoting research on lung disease has been a consistent theme throughout his career at the lung health organisation. For the past eight years, he has served as the manager of the Longfonds' national research grant program.

Bas Holverda and Dorothee Laan have worked alongside each other at Longfonds in the field of research and innovation for many years. As Laan's daily sparring partner, Holverda is well-informed about the current state of affairs regarding the Accelerate program. 

We are greatly indebted to Dorothee for her important contribution to the Accelerate program, her drive and her enthusiasm. We wish her all the best in her new role at the Dutch ‘Beweegalliantie’, a new network organisation focused on health promotion through physical activity.
